According to legend, in the ancient times, there was a warrior named Houyi who was excellent at archery, and his wife Chang’e was beautiful and kind.
One year, ten suns suddenly appeared in the sky, and the heat and the cruelty of wild animals made the people into desperation. In order to relieve the people’s suffering, Hou Yi shot down nine suns to get rid of the fierce beasts. Queen Mother Xi was moved by Hou Yi’s feat and gave him an immortal medicine.
The treacherous and greedy villain Feng Meng wanted to get the elixir, and took advantage of Houyi’s hunting opportunity to force Chang’e to hand over the elixir with his sword. Chang’e knew that she was not Pengmeng’s opponent. When she was in a hurry, she made a decisive decision, turned and opened the treasure chest, took out the immortal medicine and swallowed it in one bite. As soon as she swallowed the medicine, she immediately flew into the sky. Because Chang’e was worried about her husband, she flew down to the moon closest to the world and became a fairy.
Later, the Mid-Autumn Festival used the moon’s full moon to signify the reunion of people. It was a rich and precious cultural heritage for yearning for the hometown, the love of loved ones,
and wishing for a good harvest and happiness.
